Are food sensitivities over-activating your immune system?

Do you feel discomfort, bloating, diarrhea or pain after eating certain foods? Your body may be responding with negative symptoms due to your immune system reacting to food sensitivities. When you eat foods that you are sensitive to (but not allergic to) your white blood cells release pro-inflammatory chemicals into your bloodstream that may be the culprit of your symptoms. Understanding your food sensitivities will help you reduce inflammation and enhance immunity.

Some symptoms you may be experiencing from food sensitivity may appear 24 - 48 hours after eating, they include:

  • Bloating and gas

  • Diarrhea/ Constipation

  • Abdominal pain

  • Unexplained weight loss or gain

  • Fatigue

  • Brain fog

  • Headaches

  • Skin rashes

  • Runny nose/ sinus

  • Achy joints

Food intolerances may be difficult to diagnose correctly without testing your blood sample. Usually, the older we are the more reactive we are with our food sensitivities.

Contact our licensed acupuncturist and functional medicine specialists to discuss if a food sensitivity test is suitable for you. The best way to enhance your immunity is by eliminating identified foods that may be causing chronic inflammation in your system.
