Top foods that causes inflammation

When optimizing our health and wellness, the most important thing is to intake a diet that minimizes inflammation. Our typical diet includes sugar and dairy which are the most common ingredients that increase the inflammatory response.

Long term inflammation can cause serious damages to the body causing illness such as heart disease, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and cancer.

Dairy and inflammation

Lactose intolerance is one of the most frequent issues people experience. The reason why dairy products do not digest is because a person lacks the enzyme lactase to break down lactose, which is a sugar found in dairy products. Symptoms include bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, acne and hormonal imbalances; and it usually shows up 30 mins to 2 hours after ingesting dairy.

Other causes of lactose intolerance include small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome.

At Meta Health our approach to food sensitivities, allergies and inflammation include:

  • Food Inflammatory Test measures sensitivities to up to 132 different foods, coloring and additives spanning all major food groups.

  • Elimination diet that focuses on identifying food sensitivities

  • Anti-Inflammatory Diet

  • Customized natural supplements and herbal

If you suspect food reactions, schedule an appointment with our Meta Health functional medicine specialists and acupuncturist to help you identify your food triggers, and create a treatment plan that works best for you.
